Fact 3 - High Definition programming has much better picture quality than traditional TVs.

High Definition TV pictures are more detailed, crisper and have more vibrant colour than Standard Definition televisions.

Fact 4 - "Digital switchover" means that current terrestrial TV signals will be phased out in favour of digital TV broadcasting

A change in the way terrestrial TV signals are broadcast is on the way. The change from analogue to digital broadcasting means that, after the switchover, conventional TVs will not be able to receive the new Freeview free-to-air channels without using a set top box.
